Robert Thompson Jr, US Army, VietNam War

Rob was a gentle passionate man. He was member of the 2nd Bn, 503rf Infantry, 173rd Airborne. He entered Nam on 1-18-67 and was killed 4-08-67 by a grenade, multiple fragmentation wounds. He died instantly. I’m greatful that he didn’t suffer but I know he was scared. You’d have to be nuts to not be. But he went on with his duty, his word, his honor.
He was the sweetest person I knew and my first love.I miss him and have for the last 50 years. I got to go on with my life but his was cut so short. He was 23. I’ll see you one of these days Rob.
