I am a disabled, U.S. Army, Iraq combat veteran, who was diagnosed in 2008 with Transverse Myelitis, a rare neurological disorder, causing paralysis. I am racing in the 2010 Marine Corps Marathon for the Achilles International Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans and The Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation, using a Inva…care Top End Force G, handcrank wheelchair. My participation in this event supports the goal of Achilles to inspire wounded vets to compete in athletics, and the goal of Christopher Reeve, to find a cure for paralysis.
