Senior Airman Daniel J. Johnson, 23, of Schiller Park, Illinois, died October 5, 2010, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Senior Airman Johnson was assigned to the 30th Civil Engineer Squadron, Vandenberg Air Force Base, California.

SrA Johnson and I were the same age when he died on the day after my birthday. My first assignment in the Air Force will be as a Civil Engineer in Malmstrom AFB. This was a sign to me! I just purchased a memorial hero bracelet bearing his name. I would love to get in contact with his family in the near future!
