USO San Antonio

For more than 69 years, the United Service Organizations, Inc. (USO) has acted as a bridge between the American people and the men and women in uniform around the world. The USO is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide “a touch of home” to our military members while stationed abroad. Here, in San Antonio, with the help of over 100 volunteers each month, we provide this support by successfully operating two USO centers, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. In addition to the centers, we also provide a variety of programs and services aboard the local bases to support the troops and their families stationed here, to include providing a monthly meal at the Warrior Family Support Center, Fisher House on Fort Sam Houston, and Fisher House on Lackland.

USO San Antonio’s downtown location recently underwent a huge transformation!

We’ve downsized the center and have developed a much more functional floor plan that will allow us to provide many more programs and services that the troops and their family members are sure to appreciate.

The new and improved center features… a Computer Area to connect with family and friends via the internet; a Theater Room to kick back and watch television or a movie; a Snack Bar Area and, a Lounge Area complete with televisions and pool tables.

There is a Children’s’ Area for the kids. And, for those who miss story time with their little ones, the center features a United Through Reading® Room to provide patrons with the opportunity to be recorded reading a story and message to their child or children back home. We then mail the recording and book to their loved one, free-of-charge.

Another highlight of the improved center is a BattleStation with eight Xbox 360s interconnected for the ultimate in gaming; and, four Interactive Gaming Rooms complete with Xbox 360s and Nintendo Wiis to allow patrons the opportunity to rock out on Guitar Hero or Rock Band, bowl or play other games like baseball, tennis, golf, and football without even leaving the center! What makes these rooms even more special is that they are available for our wounded warriors to use as a method of rehabilitation.

The hours of operation at the newly remodeled downtown USO San Antonio are Sunday-Thursday, noon-6 p.m. and Friday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. The center will open for additional hours upon request and availability.
