In Memory RIP Deputy Jessica Hollis of Austin


HeroBracelets is based in Austin, Texas and this flash flood accident happened not 5 miles from our doorstep.  We are so saddened by the loss of Jessica Hollis - mother, wife and just 35 years old.  Rest in Peace my friend.  #Hero 

Sheriff: Body Of Missing Travis Co. Deputy Found Updated: Friday, September 19 2014, 06:26 PM CDT 4 p.m. UPDATE: Sheriff Greg Hamilton at the scene said they have recovered the body of 35-year-old Jessica Hollis. Police say Hollis' body was found in Lake Austin, not too far from the mouth of the creek where her car was found. -------------------------- EARLIER: Rescue crews from surrounding areas are continuing to search for a missing deputy from the Travis County Sheriff's office. The deputy, identified as Senior Deputy Jessica Hollis, 35, went missing early Wednesday morning after she was swept away by flood waters. Hollis was checking low water crossings in the 3400 block of Fritz Hughes Park Road, when she sent out a distress signal. Her car was found a short time later. The Sheriff's office says Hollis has been a member of the Travis County Sheriff's Office for 7 years.  She has worked Patrol, Vice, and is also a member of the Sheriff’s Underwater Recovery Team (Dive Team). Searchers from the Sheriff’s Office, as well as all the federal, state, and local public safety agencies from across Travis County and Texas Search and Rescue have been searching the area from the low water crossing to Lake Austin. Boats with divers, helicopters, and search and rescue dogs are being used to search.  APD officials say Deputy Hollis was married to an APD officer. Deputy Hollis began her career with the Austin Police Department as a cadet on Nov. 14, 2005 and was commissioned on June 23, 2006. She resigned from APD on Aug. 30, 2006.
