Hero Stories for December 2008

My Hero. Major Ward T. Blacklock III.

This picture was taken on the morning of January 24, 2007 in a helicopter hangar on Fort Drum, New York when my husband, Major Ward T. Blacklock III returned from a year long tour of duty to Bagram, Afghanistan with the  10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division.  His daughters Sydney, aged 6 (at the time) and Raley, aged 4 (at the time) spent an entire day making signs to welcome their daddy home.  They each made their signs all by themselves.  We sat in the very cold hangar and ...

My Hero. My Son. LCpl Trevor Aston.

I wear a hero bracelet in memory of my beautiful son Trevor. Trevor was killed in Iraq on 2/22/05. It serves to remind me & those who ask about it, that our freedom is not free. It has been paid for by those who choose to serve & protect this great nation of ours. God bless America, and those who defend her..... They are not heroes because of the way they died....they are heroes because of the way they lived. Jewel Aston Proud Marine Mom of LCpl. Trevor Aston who gave his life in supp...

Our Hero. Our Son.

My oldest son has followed my footsteps and enlisted into the U.S. Army 2 years ago.  I have served this country for 22 years and now my son is doing the same in Afghanistan.  Myself and my whole family were very excited when we learned that we could get Hero Bracelets to wear while he is over there.  The best thing about it is that I get to wear mine even in uniform.  Quite a few people in my family have his hero bracelet Me, my wife, My step son, My dad and mom, all my sisters and brothers ...

My Heroes.

My wife and I live in Houston, TX. I am an honorably discharged Marine and found out about this bracelet thing through my wife, Katie. She and I wear our hero bracelets every day and very rarely take them off. We feel honored to wear these in memory of men that gave their lives for us... and who we have never met. It is tragic that even though we have lost the fewest amount of American Heroes in American war history... they are still departed. However, they have not disappeared and are defini...

My bracelet.

I have been wearing my HeroBracelet for over 5 years now without taking it off.  I get asked about it all the time and a day hasn't gone by that I haven't looked at and thought of the person whose name is on it and their family.  I have thought many times about getting a new bracelet to wear but I don't want to take this one off.  The only reason I would want to take it off is if I had the opportunity to give it to his family. Thank you all for what you do, Garrett Ma

A way to say thanks.

If you go to this web site, www.LetsSayThanks.com you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq . You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to some member of the armed services. How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!!  This is a great site.  Please send a card.   It is FREE and it only takes a second. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these?   Whether ...
