HeroBracelets program pays tribute to the fallen

Mary Wildes put on a HeroBracelet before her son, 18-year-old Pfc. Matthew Wildes, deployed to Iraq last May, but for some reason Mary could not take the bracelet off. Wildes said she was going to take the bracelet off when Matthew returned from Iraq, but Wildes never got that chance. Wildes saw her son when he took his leave in August, only 23 days before a roadside bomb killed Matthew in Iraq. HeroBracelets offers Gold Star families a way to remember, and Wildes recently received her bracel...

My copper HeroBracelet.

The copper bracelet is a great reminder (not that I need any), and rugged. After all, it has to go through a year, just like me. We will be placing another order for my friend. Connie Ehm

Sarah Palin wearing her Deployed HeroBracelet

[caption id="attachment_3259" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="Sarah Palin wearing her Deployed HeroBracelet at a recent event."][/caption] In some recent photo's of Sarah Palin, we noticed she's wearing her Deployed HeroBracelet bearing her son's name, Track Paliin. Track is serving in the Middle East right now. Back in 2008, we had heard that both Sarah Palin's son and now Vice President Joseph Biden's son were heading off on deployements, so we made them both a set of Deployed HeroB...

Sending books to the 467th.

A couple weeks back, we were fortunate enough to meet the 467th at Fort Hood, following the terrible shooting that claimed 5 of their members. During our visit, I talked quite a bit with MAJ Laura Suttinger and in the conversation, she mentioned that they love getting their hands on books on the deployment. Well, they headed out to Afghanistan last week and I put out a call to friends and neighbors for books. Got a great bunch of really good books dropped off. Well, just heard from the Major ...

I ordered your bracelets for his parents, his siter and for me. They were all pretty thrilled to get them and we’ve all vowed to wear them till he comes home. We’re thinking of making a chain of all the bracelets for him when he gets home. I get to talk to email him once in a while and told him about us all wearing his name on our...

My Thanksgiving Hero Story. SSGT Joshua M. Horton.

My favorite Thanksgiving memory with my hero would be our 2004 Thanksgiving. My son SSgt Joshua M. Horton, USMC, was deployed to Iraq in early September, 2004. He had been deployed in early May, but spent those first months in Camp Pendleton, CA, training for combat. He was part of F Company, 2/24, based out of Milwaukee, WI. This was a holiday season that we anticipated would be spent without Josh, as he was to be in Iraq til the spring of 2005. Josh was only in Iraq for six weeks, whe...

My Hero. My Father.

I recently ordered a hero bracelet because I remembered them from the Vietnam War when I was in high school. I was pleased to see that they were being made to honor and help our members of the armed forces. I recently lost my father, who was 91 and had served in World War II. It was with great pride in him and in our nation's troops, that I accepted the American flag at his funeral. My husband plans to make a box built with Dad's tools to keep the flag in. I received my bracelet today. It is...

New KIA Bracelets for our class.

I teach a high school American history class and ordered your KIA bracelets (you call them HeroBracelets) for my class. We studied the war, what led up to it and those who fought it. I wanted my students to have the KIA bracelets and to learn about the men and women who's names are there. I think it's been a great lesson for them. Thank you for providing such a valuable service. And I'm quite impressed with the quality of these memorial bracelets. Chris Taylor NY,
